Description: Krzysztof Baculewski, born in Warsaw in 1950, is a composer, educator and author of publications devoted to contemporary music. A graduate of the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw, he continued his studies at the Paris Conservatoire with Olivier Messiaen and at the Groupe de Recherches Musicales, where he completed an internship with Pierre Schaeffer.

Since 1982 he has been associated with the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, now the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. He holds a doctorate in humanities, a habilitation degree and the title of professor. He has also lectured at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

Baculewski's music has been performed in Poland and throughout Europe, as well as in the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Peru and Mexico. His works have been performed by distinguished soloists, ensembles and conductors, including Ensemble InterContemporain, BBC Singers, Tomkins Vocal Ensemble and Camerata Silesia.

He is also a member of juries for composition competitions and the author of books and numerous scholarly, critical and journalistic publications on Polish contemporary music. He has undertaken reconstructions and orchestrations of historical works. In 2007 he was awarded the Silver Medal „Gloria Artis – Medal for Merit to Culture”.
