Selected Etudes for Flute, Volume 1 by Feliks Tomaszewski is a supplementary collection designed to support systematic flute instruction. The etudes have been selected from numerous teaching methods to facilitate the implementation of the curriculum while developing students' musicality.

The material is arranged progressively according to difficulty, taking into account successive keys as well as the development of finger technique and tone production. The collection focuses primarily on etudes of artistic value that gradually introduce beginners to increasingly advanced aspects of flute technique.

The etudes have been newly edited with regard to phrasing and fingering. The author has also included suggestions for practicing the individual studies, enhancing their instructional value.

The publication is intended for students who have already mastered the basics of reading music, rhythmic concepts, correct embouchure and sound production. It can be used as a further stage of study after completing the initial exercises from an appropriate flute method, including Eugeniusz Towarnicki's Flute Method.
