This is what the journal "Musica Sacra" wrote about the first volume of Graduale Novum, which, since its publication seven years ago, has become a widely used standard work. Proposals for the restitution of melodies from the Graduale Romanum: Since 1996, melodies for Sundays and feast days have been published under this title in the journal "Beiträge zur Gregorianik" in the form of a "more critical edition" (SC 117), based on the oldest (adiastematic) manuscripts. On the occasion of the 50th volume of "Beiträge zur Gregorianik," a practical complete edition of these restitution proposals is being published. The new "Graduale de Dominicis et Festis" is constructed so that the corrections are directly included in the square notation. Neumes in the notation of Metz and St. Gall are added above or below the staff. The Gradual contains Mass chants for Sundays and feast days according to the order of the Graduale Romanum or Ordo Cantus Missae. It serves both contemporary liturgical practice and academic use.
