Description: Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sextet in E-flat major, Op. 71 is a brilliant chamber work for two clarinets, two horns and two bassoons. The composition was written around 1796, with its definitive version prepared at a later stage. Belonging to Beethoven’s early period, the work combines the clarity and balance of Classical forms with the composer’s characteristic energy, dynamic contrasts and imaginative use of the possibilities of wind instruments.

The work consists of three movements: Allegro, Adagio and Rondo. The instruments engage in lively dialogue, exchange melodic material and create a varied chamber texture. The horn parts play an important role in giving the ensemble its noble and resonant character, while the clarinets and bassoons provide contrasting colours and melodic flexibility. This edition contains the complete full score together with the instrumental parts and is therefore intended for ensemble performance.
