MUZO: Raduje się serce – Polish Patriotic Songs for Mixed Choir a cappella, arranged by Edward Kulikowski

A collection of selected Polish patriotic songs arranged by Edward Kulikowski for mixed choir a cappella. The publication features works that accompanied the Polish people throughout their struggle for freedom and independence.

Kulikowski uses accessible musical means without introducing complicated vocal techniques. Harmony plays an important role, together with elements of colour and expression that shape the varied musical and textual character of each song. The arrangements are soft and euphonious, with vocal parts written in comfortable registers. The four-part arrangements occasionally include divisi.

The repertoire offers an attractive selection of important Polish patriotic songs, including Legionary and military songs as well as works associated with the history of Poland's struggle for independence. The publication is intended for concert programmes performed by choirs and vocal ensembles, including Polish communities abroad.

A graduate of the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and the Postgraduate Choral Conducting Studies programme at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. Professor at the University of Białystok and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. He is the conductor and artistic director of the Academic Choir of the University of Białystok. He has written numerous choral arrangements and composed religious works for a cappella choir. He also collaborates with the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic – European Art Centre. His artistic achievements have been recognized with, among other distinctions, the Bronze and Silver Medal of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage “Gloria Artis”.
