Description: Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat major, K. 271, known as the “Jeunehomme” Concerto, was composed in Salzburg in 1777 and is one of the most original piano concertos of his early period. The work is distinguished by its bold construction, exceptionally lively dialogue between soloist and orchestra, and unusually innovative treatment of the piano part.

The opening of the first movement already breaks with convention: the piano enters almost immediately after a brief orchestral statement rather than waiting for the traditional presentation of the orchestral material. The concerto consists of three movements: Allegro, Andantino and Rondeau: Presto – Menuetto – Presto. The finale is particularly remarkable for Mozart's insertion of a contrasting Menuetto into the rondo structure.

The Bärenreiter score presents the work in a scholarly Urtext edition, intended for performers and musicologists seeking a reliable text of Mozart's composition based on the surviving sources.
