Description: Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat major, K. 271 „Jeunehomme” was composed in Salzburg in 1777 and is one of the most groundbreaking concertos of his early period. Mozart gives the orchestra an unusually active role, creating a musical structure rich in dialogue and contrast that anticipates the later development of his piano concertos.

This performance material contains the violoncello, double bass and bassoon parts. The lower strings provide the harmonic and rhythmic foundation of the work, while the bassoon contributes to the orchestral colour and participates in dialogues with the other instruments. These parts form essential performance material for an orchestra performing K. 271.

The concerto consists of three movements: Allegro, Andantino and Rondeau: Presto – Menuetto – Presto. The finale is particularly original, with Mozart introducing a contrasting Menuetto into the rondo form.

This Bärenreiter Urtext edition has been prepared on the basis of historical sources and is suitable for both professional performance and study.
