Description: Tomasz Jakub Opałka, born in 1983, is a composer, a multiple scholarship recipient of the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage and a laureate of numerous Polish and international composition competitions.

From 2006 to 2011, he studied composition with Professor Krzysztof Baculewski at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, receiving a doctoral degree in musical arts in 2013. After completing his studies, he further developed his skills in composition and orchestration in Los Angeles, collaborating with leading Hollywood film composers.

Since 2012, he has divided his work in concert and film music between Warsaw and Los Angeles. His music is distinguished by strong compositional energy, exceptional sensitivity to sound, refined orchestration and innovative exploration of harmony.

Examples of his individual musical language include the concerto D.N.A., featuring scales inspired by the genetic code, and the symphony Event Horizon, exploring the possibilities of quarter-tone harmony. Opałka combines diverse influences and inspirations while rejecting both conceptualism and postmodernism. At the centre of his creative approach are artistic intuition, a conscious compositional technique, and careful attention to structure, form and the narrative development of each work.
