The liturgical practice of singing several psalm verses to the Communio antiphon is documented as early as around 930 in Codex 381 of the Abbey Library of St. Gallen. In the 11th century, Aquitanian manuscripts also propose verses from the New Testament for this purpose. This edition attempts to reconcile the suggestions of the Ordo Cantus Missae with manuscripts from the 10th and 11th centuries. The uniform script of the restored verses, using square notation and partial modern notation, aims to establish a consistent performance practice. It serves as an essential supplement to the Graduale Novum.
