The tropes for Kyrie in the Graduale Romanum provide for the first time this rich treasure of melodies and texts, of which only the initial words are listed as a heading in the Graduale Romanum.

Tropes were banned in liturgy since the Council of Trent, but in the Ordo Cantus Missae of 1972, the possibility of preceding Kyrie invocations with a short textual insertion (brevis tropus) reappeared.

The original Latin Kyrie trope can also be used here. Reviews of the book: An important, well-researched contribution to the overall development of the medieval tropes repertoire, which will surely be welcomed by many chant schools (Singende Kirche 3/2011, p. 168).

The practical edition is excellently executed (Musica Sacra 4/2011, p. 275).
