Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 14 in E-flat major, K. 449 – Violoncello/Double Bass

Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 14 in E-flat major, K. 449, composed in 1784, is one of the first major piano concertos of his mature Viennese period. The work is distinguished by its exceptional clarity of texture, chamber-like dialogue between the piano and orchestra, and wealth of melodic and harmonic ideas. The concerto consists of three movements: Allegro vivace, Andantino and Allegro ma non troppo.

The violoncello and double bass part provides the foundation of the string section, contributing to the harmonic structure, rhythmic pulse and dialogue with the other orchestral sections. This Bärenreiter publication is intended for performers working from the modern critical edition of the concerto.
