Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat major, K. 271 „Jeunehomme” was composed in Salzburg in 1777 and is among the most innovative works of his early period. Mozart departed from the traditional concerto model, giving the orchestra a significantly more independent role and creating an exceptionally close dialogue with the solo piano.

The wind parts form an important element of the orchestra's colour and texture, enriching the dialogue with the soloist and contributing to the contrasting sonorities of the individual movements. They are particularly significant in the lyrical Andantino and the unusually structured finale, Rondeau: Presto – Menuetto – Presto.

This Bärenreiter edition is intended for performance according to the source-based Urtext. The publication contains the wind instrument parts for K. 271 and serves as supplementary material to the full score and the remaining orchestral parts.
