When designing the YCL-450 series models, we aimed to create an instrument for aspiring musicians who dream big. Introducing clarinets made from Grenadilla wood, crafted for intuitive handling refined over the years. The YCL-450M features Duet+ technology within the air column, making the instrument more durable and less sensitive to temperature and humidity.

Yamaha clarinets, with their new construction ensuring greater durability and precise intonation, have achieved a new level of sound quality. Innovations in the Duet+ series create a protective layer around the air column, addressing common issues found in wooden instruments. Combining noble wood with modern ABS material is not just a "duet" of tradition and technology—it's truly a change for the better. The upper joint body has slightly larger tone holes and bore diameter. Though technologically advanced, these models resemble conventional all-wood designs in appearance.

Silver-plated keys

Keys made of nickel-silver alloy provide softer and warmer tones.

New adjustable thumb rest and strap ring

The new thumb rest can be customized to fit hands of all sizes, aiding the development of proper playing technique. The strap ring allows effortless instrument support. Enhanced screws and silver-based solder ensure excellent durability.

Adjustable screws

The YCL-450M uses the same screw type as the YCL-650, making key adjustments easier than ever.

Upper joint design

The new upper joint shape enhances articulation in higher registers. Unlike the YCL-450, which requires strong airflow for clear tones, the YCL-450M delivers clarity even at lower pressures, making it ideal for young clarinetists.
